I wonder if the spider plans
Before she spins her silken strands
To create a masterpiece
Between the branches of the trees.
I wonder when she begins her task
If she questions how she’ll catch
Prey when there are holes between
Each tightly wound sticky string.
Does she ever doubt her work?
Does she double back?
Or has she simply learned to spin
The task that her Creator's given.
There’s merit in a tight-knit scheme
Of filling every hole in between
But isn’t it much better still
To make space for my Father’s will?
So next time that I sit to spin
A brand new story with my pen
I’ll think about the spider’s work
Leaving room between my words.
For I’d rather write a simple tale
Not knowing every detail
Than pen a masterpiece I planned
Without my Creator’s hand.
I wonder if the spider plans,
Before she spins her silken strands
Or is she creating just like me,
Letting God fill her creativity?
This is so beautiful and so powerful! Making sure we leave the room for God to work even as we plan!
